Before starting this discussion:
Read Chapters 3 and 4 of the course text.
Watch the video, Wealth and Income Disparity.
Chapter 4 focuses on wealth disparity and the video, Wealth and Income Disparity, expands on this content, distinguishing income verses wealth inequality. Address the following and support your assertions with citations and personal or vicarious examples:
Describe the differences between wealth and income and distinguish why understanding this is important when addressing inequality.
Explain why wealth plays a more important role than income in the perpetuation of racial inequality.
Evaluate how COVID-19 affected the wealth and income gaps. How (or did) COVID-19 affect your own income? What factors, based on your reading, do you believe most affected your own situation (whether it was protected or was hurt by the epidemic)?
Evaluate which of the two stock stories (Neoliberal and Marxist) you think provides more insight into the phenomenon of economic racial inequality. Why?
Assess how an understanding of history informs your views on income and wealth inequality.
Your initial post should be at least 500 words in length.

Before starting this discussion, identify an event, conflict, news story, or social movement which you are interested in learning more about.
Next, identify two resources that give information about your chosen subject matter. One resource should denote bias, and one should be considered credible and non-biased based on your current understanding of what are acceptable and not acceptable resources.
