CCSD The Impact of Habitat Fragmentation on Birdsong Research Paper – Description
Write and submit the Results and Discussion sections of a research paper.
The results section will describe which analyses you plan to do, and also what you expect to find. Explicitly describe what the IVs and DVs are.
For example, consider the results section for the experiment described in Figure 2.4 of our textbook had 3 conditions (sit quietly, punching bag, punching bag picturing Steve’s face). You would convey that you would compute the mean and standard deviation of the aggression in the three conditions. Those means would be analyzed using a 3-group independent ANOVA, and followed up with post-hoc tests. The test statistic’s value and its degrees of freedom would be reported in Results. The “Catharsis” hypothesis would predict that highest scores would be in the “sit quietly” group and the lowest in the “Steve’s face” group.
Additionally, prepare at least one graph or table to convey the anticipated results. For the catharsis experiment, I would create a bar graph showing the mean (and standard error bars) of the 3 groups. Graphs and Tables should have titles and clear labels.
For the discussion section, begin with a summary of the study and its anticipated results. This should look similar to but not be exactly the same as the end of your introduction. Discuss the implications for the theory-data cycle, and how the results fit in with the existing literature. Follow this with a discussion addressing the “4 validities” from chapter 3. It may work well to have one paragraph for each validity. Finally have a paragraph indicating what future research may consider.
