WU Dementia Alzheimers Disease Parkinsons Disease Discussion – Question Description
I’m working on a social work discussion question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.
For many, entering later adulthood brings about numerous physiological, structural, functional, and neurocognitive changes. Aging increases the risk of neurocognitive disorders, such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. These disorders cause gradual long-term decreases in the ability to think and remember, and subsequently, interfere with the ability to function. Social workers must possess knowledge and skills necessary to improve the quality of life for individuals and their families affected by neurocognitive disorders.
In this Discussion, you analyze the theoretical approaches and practice skills that can be used with individuals experiencing age-related changes in physiology.
