WU Advance Analysis and Community Health Linear Regression Questions – Description
Review the module Learning Resources.
Review Chapters 5 and 6 of the Warner (2021) textbook and the media program found in this week’s Learning Resources and consider the use of dummy variables.
Create a research question using the NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) dataset that can be answered by multiple regression. This is the same dataset and same topic that you will be using for the SPP. If necessary, you may need to search for the variable in the NHANES database found here:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (2018). Search variables. https://wwwn.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes/Search/default.aspx
Remember to select the release cycle (2015–2016). Then download the appropriate file from the Learning Resources and merge with the file available for download from the resources. The codebook file can be found using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2017) reference in the Learning Resources.
Using the SPSS software, choose a categorical variable to dummy code as one of your predictor variables.
Consider what multiple regression model may answer your research question.
Review the complex samples weighting file available in the Learning Resources.
BY DAY 4 OF WEEK 4
Estimate a multiple regression model that answers your research question.Post a response in which you address the following:
Identify your research question, including an explanation of the null hypothesis.
Interpret the coefficients for the model, specifically commenting on the dummy variable.
Run appropriate diagnostics for the regression model, explaining in your post what was run. Does the model meet all of the assumptions? Be sure and comment on what assumptions were not met and the possible implications. Is there any possible remedy for one the assumption violations?
Next, load the complex samples weighting file available from the course.
Estimate a complex samples multiple regression model that answers your research question. Post your response to the following:
Interpret the coefficients for the model, specifically explaining how the coefficients and confidence intervals are different than the previous model.
Explain how these models and results can contribute to positive social change.
