With the increase in knowledge around genetic issues, it is now important that all health care providers are prepared to have thorough genetic-based discussions with their patients. In this assignment, learners create a presentation to propose an approach for genetic counseling that addresses a potential genetic health-related illness.

Use primary sources published within the last 5 years.

You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.
Learners will submit this assignment using the assignment dropbox in the digital classroom. In addition, learners must upload this deliverable to the Learner Dissertation Page (LDP) in the DNP PI Workspace for later use.
Directions:
Create a PowerPoint presentation to propose an approach for genetic counseling that addresses a potential genetic health-related illness. Your slide presentation must contain a title slide, 12-15 slides of content, and a References slide. Use evidence to support your claims. Speaker’s notes must be included for each individual slide (add a speaker notes section to demonstrate the verbal speech you would give along with each slide).
Your presentation must include the following elements:
Present a potential genetic health-related illness and describe the genetic disorder.
Describe the reason why genetic counseling would be recommended for this illness.
Develop a counseling approach for a patient. The approach must include the following: genetic screening, approach to modify risk factors, diagnostics and laboratory testing, prognostics, selection of treatment and monitoring of treatment effectiveness.
Discuss the possible reactions the patient may have to your counseling and solutions to avoid potential negative reactions.
