Ions play a critical role in human health. Many ions are required in small amounts and are known as trace elements. Write a paper that discusses four ions critical to human health. Pick one ion from each of the following groups: a Group I or II cation; a transition metal cation; an anion from groups 15, 16, or 17; and a polyatomic ion. The following information for each of the four ions must be included in the paper:

Why is the ion required; what is its role in physiology
Daily requirements
Diseases resulting from deficiency
Global distribution of deficiency
Recommendations to overcome the deficiency
