In this case, the company adopted a blue market strategy, which would help it create new demand in its new market space. With the blue ocean strategy, Cirque was able to make competition irrelevant and break the value of cost. According to the founder of Cirque, the company did not reinvent the circus, but it repackaged it into a more modern way. In its traditional strategies, Cirque du Soleil’s performances focused on going on with multiple things at some, and all these things were competing (Mumme, 2020). But in the blue ocean strategy the company created a fluid design that would incorporate more creativity, such that the performers were lost and became part of the bigger creation. Another strategy that was different from its traditional roots was the unparalleled backdrops in which more movie surrealism helped distinguish the Cirque shows from its circus roots.Additionally, other changes that had been done to its traditional strategy included removal of animal acts and reduced the number of performers needed in a show, such that they were able to increase the value of the show to each of their buyers. The performance areas were also customized and made more comfortable with upgraded seats. It also increased production value with music, stories, and lighting. All the changes they made to the company allowed them to create multiple unique productions around different acts and music and this contributed to increased demand and viewers would be happier watching these multiple shows. Eventually, the company would stop losing audiences that got bored easily, instead, it attracted more audiences. This new Cirque strategy made competition for them very irrelevant.
