Texas A & M University Computer Science Discussion – Description
Assignment Content
Go to https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/quiz/political-typology/. You are going to take the survey, but please open a Word document because you will write about each of the questions on the survey. Please be aware that the survey asks questions in very stark terms, and you may not fully believe in one of the statement over the other. You will pick the statement that comes closest to your side. In the Word document, you will number the paper 1-17 and write about each of the questions. For each question, you will write three to four sentences. First, you will tell me which answer choice you selected. You will then tell me why you selected that answer choice. You will tell me if your answer falls somewhere more in the middle. You might even tell me the issues you see in the way the specific question is asked.
Example:
I answered the first question that I believe that government should do more to help needy Americans, even if it means going deeper into debt. While I agree with the first part of the statement, I believe it is unfair to assume that I am OK with going into debt. I believe that with a shifting of priorities, we can create a better safety net for all Americans without debt. I would shift the focus from less military spending to more spending on the American people.
You will do this for all seventeen questions. I am curious to know what you think. Please use academic writing and respectful language. Please know that your thoughts are safe with me. Please also know that I will push back here and there just so that you deepen your level of thinking and the range of information on each of the issues.
In the very final paragraph. Tell me about your results and whether they surprise you. Please do not forget this step. For those taking Government 2305, this survey is different than the one we took there. I am curious to see if your results look any different with this survey. As always, I want all of you thinking about your own ideology and how you are fine-tuning it. Are you watching the news and gathering more information? Are you deeply thinking about issues and why they are important to you?
