Task: Summary:
Select two online apps that promote play-based and inquiry-based STEAM knowledge for preschoolers (3-5yrs) and analyse and compare how each app enhances children’s dispositions,
excitement and wonderment for STEAM topics.
Presentation style: You must provide sub-headings for your work.
First provide an introduction to the apps by describing the key feature of the apps and how
these features support play-based and inquiry knowledge. For example, if the app has brightly
featured colours and games; how do these enhance play-based and inquiry knowledge? How
does the literature support your ideas?
Then discuss how each app enhances children disposition towards STEAM topic; excitement
and wonderment (make sure you understand the meaning of these words: how does the
literature discusses these ideas in STEAM field?). Provide a critical analysis of how the app
enhance those ideas. Be specific in the you discussion and support with examples and evidence
(it could be from review comments or from the app site). For example, how does the app ensure
creativity, critical thinking, problem solving etc. Are there systems to motivate students to
continue when face with challenges? Link these discussions with specific activities or features
in the apps. Also, make sure to support your discussion with relevant literature.
Finally, discuss how the apps are similar or different from each other in promoting play-based
and inquiry STEAM based knowledge. Provide critical evaluation Eg what are the strengths
and weaknesses of these, how do to they cater for different learning styles (Support your ideas
with literature).
