After reading the case study, In Chapter 8 of your textbook, read the case study “Business Case: Superior Engineering in Texas: Stay or Go?” address the following questions in a minimum of three pages:
Does Superior fit the definition of a small business or an entrepreneurial venture? Please explain.Reconcile the executive team’s concerns regarding Texas’s poor performance with Figures 1–3 in the case. Complete a vertical analysis for both Superior without the Texas SBU and for the Texas SBU as a separate analysis.Why has Texas struggled to be profitable? What does a vertical analysis of Superior’s financials suggest about the Texas operation versus Superior as a whole?What are your recommendations for Superior and the Texas operation? Should the Texas operation be discontinued? Why, or why not? Based on your answer, describe how you would handle the human resource management (HRM) decisions related to your decision to keep or discontinue the Texas operation. Summarize how your analysis impacts HR activities.
In your analysis, you must propose one entrepreneurial action or solution (a nontraditional solution) that would benefit the company.
Conclude your case study by answering the following question from a general business perspective (not focused on the Superior Engineering case). This part of your paper should be at least one page in length.
How can the information on the financial statements help you make better decisions regarding human resource (HR) planning for a small business?
Be sure to use subheadings in your paper as opposed to a question-answer format.
Your complete paper should be at least four pages in length, not counting the title or reference pages. References should include your eTextbook and a minimum of two additional credible sources. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.
