SEU RTV Final Project Shot List Quotidian – Description
General Description:
This project is designed to give you a chance to apply some of the concepts we have learned in class. This is an individual project and you will need a device that captures video – either a phone, digital camera, etc. (iPhone camera will be okay and the iPhone editing apps as in “iMovie, and CapCut, are most popular)
This assignment is intended to give you a chance to assemble the techniques and theories we have studied in class. You are to create a short narrative video (3 minutes at max) that includes the shots listed on the rubric (RUBRIC will be linked below).
NOTE: Most required shots have already been learnt and practiced in previous discussion posts. What is new is that for the required “Choice Shot #1-#5 from Vimeo Tutorial” listed in the rubric, PLEASE WATCH the following Vimeo tutorial on framing interesting shots: https://vimeo.com/30060980
You will need to include at least 5 shots from this tutorial to complete these choice shots. At the end, try to take and edit all the required shots to make coherent scenes for your creative project.
You will also take frame capture of these shots and insert these images into your Word Document. The goal here is to demonstrate your ability to synthesize the technical components of the class and the narrative, storytelling elements. Remember, be creative. And don’t forget, any plagiarism found will result into an instant ZERO.
Specific Guidelines:
For your video, you must send a link to the project – not the movie file.
Link to the snapshots/screenshots in a Word document of all required shots with labels according to the grade sheet (e.g. medium shot; 3 point lighting, etc). List them in the order they are called for in the rubric.
Refer to the grading sheet rubric for required shots (Will be linked below). In addition to the required shots, feel free to include other types of shots as needed for your project.
Note again: Most required shots have already been learnt and practiced in previous discussion posts. What is new is that for the required “Choice Shot #1-#5 from Vimeo Tutorial” listed in the rubric, please watch the following Vimeo tutorial on framing interesting shots: https://vimeo.com/30060980. You will need to include at least 5 shots from this tutorial to complete these choice shots.
Your assigned shots do not have to be in order in the video. For example, you may do shot 6 first, shot 10 next (or whatever), and structure them so that they fit your narrative. You may insert more than the required 12 shots.
Your video should be structured around a beginning, middle, and end. For instance, the beginning should introduce the characters and establish the hero and what the hero needs – what is the conflict that has to be resolved for the story to end? The middle is where the hero works to get what they need, confronts a villain and overcome obstacles. The end is when the hero achieves their goal, accomplishes the mission and learns something from the process.
The time limit is 3 minutes.
If you are using original sound tracks or anyone else’s work anywhere in your project, remember to include them in your credits. All your actors should also be included in the credits.
The files (the video link & the word document) have to be submitted.
