SDSU Social Credit Systems In China Discussion – Description
Many people have not heard of this, but China has been experimenting (for years) with a system knows as a “social credit system” which ranks its citizens based on social acts and behaviors. The ruling party (the CCP) has full authority to determine which acts or behaviors are good or bad. There have been rumors that other countries might be thinking or working on adopting such similar system in their respective countries to “improve equality”. It could be argued that this new social credit system could replace the FICO scores currently used to give loans to people (Experian, TransUnion and Equifax).
Learn about how social credit systems work and form an educated opinion. Would such a system improve the economic development of a country and its citizens (improve equality), or would it turn the country into a tyrannical regime with no freedom, as many claim?
