SDSU Leading Intelligence Organizations Essay – Description
Leaders are often selected from among the ranks of an organization, with particular attention on prior discipline-specific expertise in the area to be led. To what extent do you think that prior discipline-specific expertise should be a requirement in selecting people for leadership roles? Explain why you’ve taken this position. Whatever position you take on this question, provide at least one counterpoint to support the opposing position. Please draw both on your experience and on readings or other reference resources. Note that “discipline-specific” expertise is not necessarily synonymous with “technology” expertise. For example, someone might have “discipline-specific” expertise in SIGINT without having expertise in every aspect of the technology used to conduct operations.
