SDSU Insights Into Nurses Role in Patient Education Discussion Reply – Description
Student Discussion That Needs to Be Responded to:
Hello class,
The nurse’s role is identifying the patient’s educational needs, delivering quality satisfaction, and providing researched quality interventions (Grand Canyon University, 2022). The nurse’s role in providing quality health education has the impact to lower the rate of hospital admissions (Grand Canyon University, 2022). Nurses can affect whether a patient feels victimized or empowered once the patient is outside of the health organization. Nurses must evaluate other aspects that may interfere with a patient’s ability to absorb the health education. Nurses must consider age, education level of patient, behavioral level of disease process, patient’s beliefs, and knowledge (Grand Canyon University, 2022). The nurse should be aware of health disparities, culture, environment, and inequalities, also known as, social determinants of health (SODH). The behavioral objectives should be identified before implementing the teaching plan. The plan should be measurable and involve both the patient and health provider in order to incorporate the patient’s culture, beliefs, and attitudes. Although nursing efforts are not always successful, nurses do have the ability to apply these health interventions and effect positive patient outcomes.
Thank you,
