RU Goals and Professional Development Plans Vision Board – Description

Overview
Understanding where you are in your learning can be a challenge with the potential for a huge payoff when you seek to grow and improve as you watch your career flourish. As early childhood education (ECE) professionals, we have goals we want to accomplish each school year, week, and maybe each day. Taking time to set both short-term and long-term goals is a great way for ECE professionals to think about what they would like to accomplish throughout the school year. The ideas are endless when it comes to what teachers would like to achieve. Therefore, it is essential to create a path you might take toward self-improvement as an educator. Scenario
You have recently enrolled in an early childhood program to obtain certification. One of your professors shared how they created a vision board to achieve their short-term and long-term goals during a lecture. You decide to create a professional vision board focused on your early childhood career goals. Instructions
For this assignment, you will create a vision board of your goals and professional development plans.First, determine how you will create your vision board:

A digital vision board can be created using tools like SmartArt in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Spark, Piktochart, etc.

Or a physical vision board can be created with poster boards (using various materials like magazine/newspaper clippings, glue sticks, markers, glitter, etc.).

Next, conduct research to find at least six images that represent your professional goals in the field of early childhood education. Lastly, create a vision board that:

Describes each of the six selected images (at least six) and how they relate to your professional goals.

Discusses three career-focused goals with at least two action steps to achieve each goal (six action steps total) and an estimated timeline to accomplish each goal.

Suggestions for career-focused goals include but are not limited to:

Join a community of practice/professional organization

Strengthen communication between home and school

Promote family involvement

Cultivate a multicultural learning environment

Integrate technology into the classroom

Design lesson plans that address diverse learning styles and preferences

Receive an advanced degree or certification in ECE

Determines a professional development opportunity for each of the career-focused goals (three total).

Uses color, font, additional visuals (photographs, graphics, clip art, etc.), quotes, personal stories to help focus and motivate you to achieve your goals in the vision board.
