QMUL Strategic Management Component Case Study Analysis Portfolio Paper – Description
MOD007205 Strategic Management 2022/23 Trimester 3.
Assessment 010. Element 1. Case study analysis portfolio
The purpose of Element 1, is to produce a portfolio of resources that you will be able to use to support your work in Element 2, the time constrained case study. The time constrained case study will be available for you to work on from week 7 of the module. You will be required to submit Element 1 at the beginning of week 8.
The brief:
Each week we will be focusing our class-based activities on a specific strategic concept, that supports your understanding of the practice of strategic management. The requirement of this element is for you to identify and analyse specific sources of information that support your knowledge of the concepts we explore.
For example, in week 2 we explore the concept of the macro-environment and we examine this concept with reference to a range of tools, perspectives and ideas. For element 1, you are required to undertake appropriate research, using a wide range of resources, to collect at least one relevant article that supports your learning of the concept of the macro-environment and its importance in strategic management. You will continue to do this for the concept we explore, each week. The concept for investigation will be made clear to you at the beginning of each week.
Once you have identified article(s) that support your knowledge and understanding of each specific concept, you are required to write a synopsis of the article, detailing its content and summarising the key learning points you have taken from it. The word count for this element is 2250 words and each of your synopses should be broadly equal in terms of its word count.
You are required to submit at least 10 articles and associated synopses in total for your portfolio. There must be a clear link between each week’s strategic management concept and the articles you present in your portfolio.
In the assessment for Element 2 (the time constrained case study) you will be required to show how you have utilised the knowledge and understanding you have gained of the range of concepts we explore in class and in your portfolio, to support your analysis of strategic management issues. Therefore, you need to choose your articles carefully so that you can gain a measurable degree of learning from each one. You should present a mix of academic articles from peer reviewed journals as well as more contextual articles from industry/business/political and economic related sources within your portfolio.
