PSY 101 response to peers – Description

Review several of your classmates’ posts. Provide a substantive response to at least two of your peers, at least one of whom was assigned the content area different from yours, in a minimum of 300 words (each reply), by Day 7 (Monday). Based on your understanding of the reading, add important information to the conversation. Please note that because you are only required to post an original response to one of the two options above, expectations are amplified for your peer replies. Be thorough, adding insight and encouraging dialogue.
With regard to “learning”:
Review the suggestions provided by your peer and provide useful input on the potential effectiveness.
Discuss other strategies that align with operational conditioning that could also sculpt the behavior in your peer’s choice of scenario. Would classical conditioning be effective? Does observational learning play a role in this behavior?
If you did not post originally on this content, share you own behavioral modification plan.
With regard to “intelligence”:
Express your belief regarding the divergent theories and the individual your peer identified and give examples to support your view.

Regarding successful intelligence, does he or she clearly exhibit the associated characteristics of the analytical, practical, and creative components? Would this individual meet the definition of successful intelligence in a different context (i.e., are his/her skills culturally relative or would they be universally applicable)?
Regarding multiple intelligences, does he or she clearly exhibit the main characteristics of the identified intelligence? Would his or her occupation fit well?
If you did not post originally on this content, share you own analysis of an individual.

Zachary Villarreal ThursdayJul 6 at 12:13amHello class! For this week’s discussion on successful intelligence I would like to choose Albert Einstein as an individual who epitomizes successful intelligence. According to Vinney (2020), “The theory, proposed by psychologist Robert J. Sternberg, contends that there are three types of intelligence: practical (the ability to get along in different contexts), creative (the ability to come up with new ideas), and analytical (the ability to evaluate information and solve problems)” (para.4).  Although known for his scientific achievements, Professor Einstein’s intelligence stretched across the analytical, creative, and practical domains, making him an excellent example.  1. Analytical Ability: Einstein’s revolutionary theory of relativity showcases his analytical intelligence. He could understand complex theoretical principles and find solutions to problems that had puzzled scientists for decades. 2. Creative Ability: Einstein’s creative intelligence was demonstrated by his ability to think outside the box. His famous thought experiments, such as imagining riding a beam of light, allowed him to communicate abstract ideas in new and innovative ways. 3. Practical Ability: Despite his reputation as a theoretical physicist, Einstein had a knack for applying his ideas practically. His work led to advancements in areas like nuclear energy and quantum mechanics, proving that he could apply his theories to real-world contexts. In terms of multiple intelligences, Einstein exhibited strong mathematical intelligence but also intrapersonal intelligence, as he was known for his deep introspective thought and understanding of his own mind. Both nature and nurture played roles in Einstein’s intelligence. On the nature side, Einstein’s brain was found to have a larger than average corpus callosum, potentially facilitating better communication between brain hemispheres. On the nurture side, Einstein’s family encouraged his intellectual pursuits from a young age. Socially, he was also influenced by the intellectual climate of late 19th and early 20th century Europe, which was steeped in scientific and philosophical debate. Predicting whether Einstein would do well on a standard intelligence test is tricky. His strong analytical abilities would likely enable him to excel in areas like pattern recognition and logical reasoning. However, traditional IQ tests might not capture his creative and practical abilities or the breadth of his multiple intelligences. Therefore, while he might score above average, it’s also possible a standard intelligence test wouldn’t fully reflect the depth and uniqueness of Einstein’s intellectual capabilities.Resources:Vinney, C. Melissa Newport (she/her/hers)ThursdayJul 6 at 3:18pm       In this discussion, I am choosing Denzel Washington as the person who shows the best example of successful intelligence. Successful intelligence is “the ability to rise above those setbacks that attempt to keep you from reaching your goals” (Francois, 2020). It means that you set yourself up for success and do not allow failure to take part on your achievements no matter the cost.  Denzel Washington set out with the goal to be a doctor and later realized his talent is in acting.  Despite the racism and rejection Denzel has experienced , and despite his failures that he has learned from, he has risen above and utilized those experiences as an example for others to learn and understand from. He has shown courage and inspiration and passed those attributes down whenever and wherever he could. He was able to travel the world and speak to many people whose lives he touched in a significant way.         Three ways Denzel demonstrates characteristics in regards to analytical, creative,  and practical abilities are in his “dedication to his career and his work ethic” (Mcguinness, 2023), which shows how analytical he is in “his ability to work in his fullest form of potential” (Mcguiness,  2023), and “the ability to bring depth and nuance to his performances” (Mcguiness, 2023) which shows his creativeness,  and he is practical in that he sets goals and he puts in the effort to obtain those goals no matter how big or small the goal is.       Nature and nurture make up what intelligence is. Denzel’s life has always had a natural talent for acting in it.  When he first started college he had initially chosen to become a doctor. He failed school, ended that career direction, and tried acting instead. It has been known as his natural talent. All of the attributes that has made Denzel more intelligent are those of the nurturing part of successful intelligence. He has turned negative  behaviors and traits into positive and motivated examples of how to be a person of strength,  willpower, and growth. Whether from what was learned while in school, what was taught and instilled into him as he was growing up by his pastor father, it has all added to his character, and he is a role model of intelligence because of these characteristics he has learned along the way.       I think that Denzel Washington could score on an IQ test of intelligence. He has all of the traits of successful intelligence. He is inspiring, courageous, uplifting, brave, daring, goal-oriented, and unafraid to make his dreams come true.      In conclusion, Denzel Washington is a person I consider to have successful intelligence. He has an inspiring thought process that he puts a lot of passion behind with everything he says or does.References:Mcguinness,  F.  (2023). The success stories of Denzel Washington and Merl Streep.
