Assessment Details and Instructions
Assessment 1: This assessment is designed to help you explore your interests in community
development, articulate a project concept, and begin grounding your ideas in theory and practice.
It will prepare you for future written proposals and deepen your understanding of advocacy in
action.
Task: Choose a topic that ignites your passion and develop a concept for a community
development project. Present an oral overview of your idea, addressing the following:
- What is the concept of your community development project?
- What community development problem does it address?
- Why and how do you propose to address this issue?
- What is the theory of change and theoretical/conceptual framework that drives your project
concept?
Students are required to prepare and submit a PowerPoint presentation. Don’t forget to delve
into the root cause of the problem, which represents the underlying reasons behind the
community issue. Understanding this root cause is fundamental to the problem-solving process.
Assessment 1 contributes to 30% of your final grade.
