Presentation proposal to help a dental problem in a town – Description
Scenario: You are a private practitioner (in your hometown or a place where you plan to
practice) and the community leaders have approached you to help the community in alleviating
dental problems in the town/ city. They have requested you to make a presentation to the city
council about your proposal. Your proposal/ presentation at minimum should include a
needs assessment plan, goals, objectives, potential community partners, potential funding
sources, public health program, a timetable for implementation, and some form of
evaluation
Assignment Guidelines:
Please create a program to improve access to dental care or create a preventive dental
care program for only one of the following groups:
-Older adults
-Children (only 0-6 or 14–18-year-old children)
-Incarcerated populations
-Pregnant women
-People living in rural or DHPSAs (dental health professional shortage areas).
-Patients with special healthcare needs (physical, developmental, or cognitive
impairment)
-People with chronic medical conditions
-Uninsured/ under-insured working age adults
-Racial/ethnic/other minority group
You can use any resources, including program plans from states/counties/local health
departments. Be sure to provide your references
You can use Healthy People 2020 as a guide for goals and objectives.
? Use 2020 census data for demographics.
You can make up potential funding sources (example County Health Alliance, Lion’s
Club of your city or any other source you want to come up with) but make the sources
and amounts realistic
