Pearl River Community College The Ocean Cleanup Trials New Interceptor in Worlds Most Polluting River Essay – Description
Cleaning the world’s water supply is a key feature in our lesson this week. One of the videos you watched for this week’s DB featured Boyan Slat of the Ocean Clean Up company. His company has recently had a practice run to try and clean up one the most polluted rivers in the world, in Guatemala.
Please read the Ocean Clean Up company’s article about their trial run in Guatemala (find this article in our module this week). Watch the videos there also if you’d like. Then write a a 2-paragraph response to what you read. Your response should be at least two *long* paragraphs. In the first paragraph summarize what the article said. In the second paragraph *respond* to what you read. For example, how does what you read in this article add to / inform what you already knew about plastic pollution? Or about Boyan Slat and his company? The best Reading Responses also bring in things that you learned from class lectures. I’ll be looking for these things as I grade. The more details, the better! If you want to write more than two paragraphs, that’s fine! There is plenty of material here.
Write as if the person reading the response knows nothing about plastics or pollution or the oceans. Don’t make assumptions or skip steps because you think I’ll know what it is you are meaning. Write clearly and write about the whole article, not just the first couple of paragraphs. Prove to me that you’ve read the entire thing.
Are you ready? Go get it! The link to the article is in this week’s module. If you want to write something up and let me read it before final submission, I’m more than happy to do that. And if you have any questions, just ask!
