Assignment details and structure
- Describe a poor practice and its consequences (Approx. 300 words) – This section can be an extension of Assessment 1 – No rephrasing is required.
- Use or reframe your PICO/PIO research question formulated in Assessment 2 to assist you with finding the best available evidence to help address the poor practice.
- Consider a searching strategy (e.g. keywords and linking them via Booleans) to find the most reliable sources of evidence for resolving the poor practice.
- Provide a critical argument for resolving poor practice using an evidence-based practice model (EBP) (Approx. 2000 words) – The critical analysis should incorperate how the poor practice in health can be addressed and managed, informed by a model of evidence-based practice (revisiting Module 1 may assist you with this task). You may use the components of the model as sub-headings.
- Recommendations for partners as applicable (e.g. consumers, providers/professional/practitioners, policymakers, community and government bodies, researchers) (Approx. 500 words)
- References –We recommend that you include at least one of each of these three types of research publication as evidence: a) an original quantitative research article (primary evidence), b) an original qualitative research article (primary evidence), and/or c) a systematic type review (secondary evidence, which can be any type of review). Then you can use these diverse approaches to discuss evidence-based ways that the poor practice can be resolved. If this is not applicable, it is OK to choose the 3 papers from the same study design.
Notes to consider in preparation for Assessment 3:
- Please choose the most credible and recent peer-reviwed papers (preferably within the last 5 years, and if not applicable, the last 10 years will be acceptable).
- You can be flexible in the ways you write the assessment/structure headings, sub-headings, as long as it covers the EBP model.
