Opreation Management Business Case Study – Description
Please look at attached file for instruction but this is a case analysis that requires 2 submissions, word and 1 excel Ms. Burke is interested in a formal report with your analysis and insights from a forecast you have completed about tractor sales. Specifically, she is asking that you read the PLE case section found on page 354 and summary below. Then, using the data in the Performance Lawn Equipment Database (see Excel document on Canvas), develop forecasting models, and forecasts for the future, for tractors and prepare a report of your results with appropriate charts and output from Excel. She is asking for a forecast of unit sales of tractors (only) in each marketing region as well as industry sales of tractors (only) to assess future changes in market share. She also wants you to use all appropriate forecasting methods including adjustment for seasonality (if applicable), Holt-Winter, and other techniques and determine the best model to use in your forecast using MAPE. The formal cohesive well-written self-contained Word report should contain detailed analysis that draws from and highlights the exhibits in the report. Place exhibits and figures in proximity to the writing (not at the end). Analysis requires a focus on interpretation and extracting insights and conclusions from the quantitative results coupled with supporting research, if any. Finally, document all calculations in an organized, readable, traceable Excel file (submitted to Canvas with the report). Hints:The dataset is large. The first step is to narrow the abundance of data to the few needed worksheets. Look at the data and determine if it is intact and clean (e.g., is there anything missing?). Investigate the best way to conduct a first review of data. When investigating a dataset, it is always wise to run descriptive statistics, to better understand the data. Visualize the data – a graph can provide significant insights and make great explanatory exhibits in the report. The assignment draws extensively from Chapter 9, but great assignments use other appropriate calculations found in the text.
