OC Culture Around Voting & Political Participation in Texas Discussion – Question Description
I’m working on a global studies multi-part question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.
In a response, please detail Texas’ culture around voting and political participation. Who votes and who does not? What are some of the leading indicators on how people will vote? What has Texas’ culture of voting been throughout history? Please pull this information from the chapter and the lecture. Voting and political participation are low across the country. How might this be strengthened, particularly among young people? Describe the qualifications to vote in Texas and the different restrictions placed on voting. For example, discuss the qualifications for voting and the forms of ID required for voting. You can find this in the textbook and the lecture. Who wins and loses from restrictive and permissive voting laws? Think about the issue of voting from all angles. Think about election integrity and voting access. Include at least one outside source, and please cite the source. This should be an academic source, like a journal article or a thinktank (i.e. Brookings, Urban Institute).
