Part 1:
1 page, single-space document to explain the case study (details), add your feelings, and then list any suggestions for advocates
-Use the document PDF titled Ana Case Study
Part 2:
-Please revise the teacher’s statement.
-Please incorporate the following:
Who holds the knowledge? Teacher, Textbooks, Students?
How would you describe students’ knowledge?
Do you believe in the innate wisdom of students and their home cultures/races/ethnicities? (Yes)
Who will be represented in your curriculum? What concepts are valued?
-The whole statement should be 2 pages total (most of it is written up and was reviewed and deemed okay.
Part 3:
After watching Ir a la Escuela.
What reactions do you have about how students are treated in school when they don’t speak the language or understand the culture of American Schools?
What is your role as a teacher in supporting all students to be successful?
