Nursing and patient safety – Description
I need to give a positive feedback on two comments related to this question. Original question : As a professional nurse, what are some ways in which you are able to reach out to members of the community who do not have access to healthcare reform?
#1 Dalia’s answer: As a professional nurse, I believe that I can reach out to members of the community who do not have access to healthcare reform by volunteering in the community and lending a helping hand. This includes using my clinical knowledge to promote health in the community, like teaching about hand washing, vaccinations, homelessness, unplanned pregnancy, pneumonia and flu during those seasons. This can also be done on social media which will appeal to a larger audience. Many who are homeless are unable to get supplies and handing out personal health and hygiene items while visually showing them is a great way to educate the homeless on prevention and safety. I have also enjoyed volunteering for Care Harbor LA which provides free medical, dental, and vision care to the community, it is a humbling and amazing experience. The care doesn’t just stop at the event; patients who need follow up are then connected to medical home once the clinic ends. As a professional nurse, volunteering is a great way to use our skills and expertise in order to help others. Nurses are one of the most trusted professionals and I strive to make a difference in the lives I come across in vision of promoting health, safety, and hope.
#2 Idalmi’s answer: Nurses are well positioned to give leadership in many aspects of healthcare, including building systems to decrease medical mistakes, enhancing quality, improving care coordination, increasing access to treatment, and avoiding workforce shortages. I am positioned to give patient care in all areas of healthcare as a healthcare practitioner actively involved in direct patient care. I’m glad to work for a hospital with a purpose to improve people’s health and well-being while also promoting the sanctity of life and its preservation in the communities it serves. Baptist Health is a faith-based organization that follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and adheres to Judeo-Christian values. In our company, I am devoted to upholding the highest standards of clinical and service excellence, as well as the highest levels of honesty and moral living. Baptist Health is committed to delivering compassionate, affordable, high-quality health care services to all people, regardless of religion, creed, ethnicity, or national origin, including charitable care for those in need as allowed by our laws.
I am really proud to work for this organization, as it allows me to serve as a lifeline for the uninsured providing millions of dollars in free health care each year, as well as spiritual support to patients and their families, as well as to us staff. Free health screenings and activities are offered to teach individuals how to stay healthy and avoid sickness.
“May we hope that when we are all dead and gone, leaders will arise who have been personally experienced in the hard, practical work, the difficulties and the joys of organizing nursing reforms, and who will lead far beyond anything we have done.” Florence Nightingale stated at the conclusion of her life.
