THE DISCUSSION WAS:
Using your PICO question and the Shapiro Library, locate a relevant primary, peer-reviewed research article that would inform your question and attach a link to your initial post. Describe why this article qualifies as primary research. Then, choose one section, other than the abstract, assess the information it provides, and describe its potential to inform evidence-based practice.

BUT NOW WE HAVE TO:

In your responses, choose two peers and review their chosen articles. Describe why their articles meet the requirements for primary research and comment on their assessment of its potential to inform evidence-based practice. Did they miss anything? If the chosen peer article is not a primary research article, clarify the difference in primary research and the selected article.

THE PEER SAID:

I analyzed the article titled: Utility of a “Lavender Lounge” to Reduce Stress Among Critical Care Registered Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study. This article is a cross-sectional study that discusses nurses using the “lavender lounge” during their shifts to decrease stress and burnout and what barriers prevent them from using the lounge. The lavender room is a room for relaxation. This lounge has massage chairs, an aromatherapy diffuser, noise-canceling headphones, and relaxation and guided meditation CDs.
This article is a primary research article because it has a specific research question, the question formulated has an answer or result, and it states what type of study it is.

I would like to discuss the results section of this article. According to Smith, 2023, Some nurses reported that using the Lavender Lounge decreased their stress levels; only half of them said they would recommend the Lavender Lounge to others. Furthermore, nurses report that the factors contributing to their stress are the same factors preventing them from using the Lavender Lounge. Those barriers are high unit acuity, high patient care demands, and the lack of nurses to cover patients’ assignments. The findings of this study suggest that it might not be feasible for nurses to step away from their clinical responsibilities to take care of their well-being. In addition, the study also shows that providing room for nurses to destress themselves is not a solution to alleviate their stress (Smith et al., 2023).

PICO Question: Does the use of relaxation techniques or relaxation rooms help decrease nurses’ stress levels in short-staffed and high-acuity units, leads to reduce levels of burnout?
