The process of qualitative research is challenging to explain, as you may have already discovered. So, in an effort to make qualitative research more “real”, watch this TED Talk by Dr. Brene’ Brown from the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston. You may be familiar with her work, as she is also a best-selling author.
Listen to her description of the qualitative research processes she goes through with the data she collects, and what her conclusions were.
