MC Nursing Spirituality Becoming Part of Nursing Practices Questions – Description
This is a great week to discuss the topic of spirituality, as we have the opportunity to reflect on how spirituality plays a role in our current or future nursing practice. I would encourage all of you to take the time to answer some of the questions from the Spiritual Assessment Tool (Box 15.1). We must first understand ourselves as spiritual beings before we can share this gift with our clients to provide patient-centered care. Riley (2020) stated “To be a nurse is to be given a sacred trust. Clients and families come to us fearfully in their darkest hours”, (p. 151). With that in mind, read the Miller et al (2023) article entitled “Spiritual Care as a Core Component of Palliative Nursing: It’s all about connection-to our patients’ needs, and to our own”. Answer the following guided questions related to the article and other readings this week. How do you define spirituality? Share a picture or image of what spirituality looks like to you. How will spirituality become a part of your nursing practice? Do you currently use self-reflection in your personal or professional life? What can you do as a spiritual care generalist? See article. Select one of the “Guides for Assessing Aspects of Spirituality” and share with us. What did you like about this resource and how could you incorporate it into your current/future nursing practice?
