Louisiana Fluency in Literacy Concepts in Teaching Grade 5 Learners Discussion – Description
Kindergarten level
As a reminder, the purpose of this course is to equip you to facilitate literacy in 4-8 grade students. Though you may be teaching at a lower grade level, as a condition of your certification, you need to be able to reinforce literacy concepts at different grade levels. Few teachers remain teaching the same grade level for their entire career, so fluency in 4-8 literacy will be a valuable asset to you throughout your time in the classroom.
Therefore, please complete this and future assignments in this course for a 4-8th grade classroom. If you are teaching at a lower level, you may select any middle grade (4-8) on which to focus for the assignments.
How will you foster the reading writing connection in your classroom? Be sure to discuss examples that best meet the needs for your selected grade level.
How will you provide opportunities for choice and differentiated instruction? What stuck out in the course textbook that would work best for your grade level? Support your answers with examples.
. What is an area you want to learn more about? What specific practices do you feel you need more information on in regards to teaching students the reading/writing connection and providing choice? Create a plan that would allow you to grow and gain more knowledge in your chosen area.
