Role Play Summary:
In my role play, I was assigned the role of a student who was drugged at a club. As part of my defense, I explained how I had attended a club for lady’s night with my 2 friends, and I went to the bathroom, left my drink at the bar when I came back continue to drink from the cup that had been spiked with a drug. I recounted how I had then experienced hallucinations and had behaved erratically, leading to committing a crime and getting arrested.
During the role-play, I tried to convey the confusion and fear I had felt during the incident. I also emphasized how I had no prior history of drug use or erratic behavior, which supported my argument that my actions were due to the drug and not a pre-existing mental illness.
Overall, the role play was a challenging and thought-provoking exercise that helped me to better understand the complexities of the insanity defense. It also highlighted the importance of considering all factors that may have contributed to a person’s behavior, including external factors like being drugged.
