JNTU Idiom Cliche Colloquial Phrase Discussion and Responses – Description
Working across global boundaries, often individuals encounter cliches or colloquial terms which can “muddy the waters” of effective communication. This week’s assigned readings explored such challenges.
Q1. Brainstorm 2 phrases you view as cliches. Do not repeat what your classmates have already posted. For each phrase identify the intended meaning and explain why it may be misconstrued.
Q2. When you hear these phrases today what impression do they give of the speaker using them?
Q3. What is an alternative inclusive way to express the meaning of each cliche?
For example:
