Background Information

Now that you have examined the impact that stakeholders can have on project success, you will reflect upon a specific project scenario that requires you to apply the project management concepts and best practices you have learned about in this workshop. Submit a brief analysis of the project stakeholders described in this scenario and how the stakeholders may impact the project manager’s ability to successfully complete the project. Discuss the type of stakeholders (roles) the project manager encounters, along with each stakeholder’s perceived power and interest, and describe how the PM can most effectively communicate with and engage the stakeholders to ensure project success.

Review the following resources, as needed:

Video: “What is a Stakeholder Analysis?” (6:32)
For this assignment you will write a business letter to a project stakeholder.
Background information and context:
The CafeLatte project described in assignment 2.3 and 3.3 is progressing.
You are now working to identify the stakeholders of the work you are planning to update the website.
How to complete this assignment:
Identify one potential (hypothetical) stakeholder for the project.  Here are some ideas (you may use one of these or another stakeholder of your choice):
Someone on the IT team that supports the website.
Someone in customer service who may get calls from customers using the website.
Someone in the order fulfillment department, who may receive orders submitted through the website.

Write a business letter to the stakeholder, explaining why they are a stakeholder, and what communication and involvement they can expect as the project progresses.
Your submission should be a minimum of 350 words.

When you’ve completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor by the end of the workshop using the quick link or the Activities button.
