Indiana State University Communications Rachel Going to Paris Essay – Description
Please consider the following format: brief summary of what the text is about and where things are when your fan fiction picks up. Do not write a whole book, just focus on the details that the reader might need to know to set up your fan fiction. For example, if I were to re-write the ending of the series Friends, I would explain how Ross has been in love with Rachel since they were in high school and even though they have a baby together and have dated in the past, they are not together now. In the final episode Ross chases Rachel down at the airport to tell her he loves her and not to get on the plane to Paris. She gets off the plane and stays in New York with Ross. I was not satisfied with this ending since Rachel left her own wedding to Barry in the first episode of the series because she felt just being a wife would not bring her fulfillment. So, why would she leave her dream job for Ross in the last episode? After this brief explanation, I would re-write the end to reflect Rachel going to Paris and then Ross giving up his job to follow her. After my fan fiction, I would include my analysis (or what I got out of the process of re-writing the ending) and make connections to the theoretical concepts related to cultural productivity. ) The first 3-4 pages will be your actual fan fiction. Use the guidelines from the reading you did about the characteristics of the chapter uploaded 2) The last two pages should be your analysis of your fan fiction, or, more accurately, the analysis of your process of writing the fan fiction, as, in this case, you are the audience you are analyzing. In the last two pages, consider what Croteau, Hoynes, and Childress wrote about what fans get out of producing fan fiction in Chapter 8. Do any of these concepts apply to you? How so? If not, why do you think other fans get some of these things out of the writing process and you did not? You may also consider other reception theories from other readings, as they are relevant. The goal of this analysis is still to complete the following sentence, “The audience makes meaning of media by…” The only difference here is that you are the audience.
