In collegiate athletics, many universities have set up nonprofit foundations that help finance school athletic programs. Athletic foundations have helped schools achieve success both on and off the field. In professional sports, many teams have nonprofit foundations that help drive an organization’s community relations efforts and support various community initiatives.
For this assignment, you will need to identify an NFL team’s foundation that aligns itself with a cause that is important to you. You will assume the role of this team’s community relations manager and use one game during the season to raise awareness for this nonprofit organization. The main purpose of the event is twofold, to raise money for the organization and to raise awareness of the work of this nonprofit organization.
Develop your event with the following in mind:
· Identify the team name and the charitable organization that will benefit. Why did you choose this pairing? (Part 1)
· State your fundraising goal for this event. (Part 2)
· Describe a pregame benefit event that you would create with potential donors. You can include a player appearance that ties in with the charity. (Part 3)
· Identify whom you would invite as prospective donors to attend your event and why. What characteristics make them the targeted donors for your cause? (Part 4)
· Explain how you will solicit donations from potential donors. (Part 5)
Complete a 900-word essay that identifies the way you would execute these events. Chosen team is Dallas Cowboys.
