HLSA 3360 MGU What Can John Do to Become a Better Listener Questions – Question Description
I’m working on a management case study and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.
The Busy Boss
John Gill is a busy man. No matter how fast he works, it seems he’s always behind. Consequently, when an employee brings Gill a problem, he is not a good listener. He opens mail, answers the telephone, and constantly glances at his watch while the employee is talking. Because he does not listen well, John keeps being blind-sided by new problems that seems to get more and more serious.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
In your own words, what can John do to become a better listener?
How might John’s poor listening skills be adding to his growing problems?
How can John promote. Perceptiveness among employees?
Give an example in you may have had with a poor listener (a poor listener can be an instructor, boss, family member, or even a friend!). How did it make you feel? What could have been done different? What was the outcome? Please explain!
