This week we looked at the emergence of Cold War conflicts in the decade following World War II. The United States’ quest to defend freedom and democracy often pinned people against one another. Using your assigned reading for this week, consider the following:
Based on the select readings from Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States, how do we compare the treatment of accused Communists to that of other racial or ethnic minority groups? Additionally, can we say that Communists in the U.S. at the time were minorities (even if not racial or ethnic)?
