For our final project you will choose a current event, social issue, or topic, and directly connect it to our class content on the history and effects of racial formation.
Based on the knowledge you have acquired in our class please answer the following:
How did U.S. history as it pertains to racial formation contribute to the shaping of this current event/social problem?
How does this current event/social issue effect historically racially marginalized communities (Indigenous/Native Americans, Black/African American, Chicana(o)/Mexican American/Latino, Chinese Americans, and Filipino Americans, etc.)?
Possible topics include, but are not limited to the following :
Policing and Incarceration
Segregation and Redlining

Civil Rights
DACA/Dreamers,
Immigration and deportation policies
Discriminatory legislation
Education (K-12) or Higher Ed

Keep your search limited to scholarly sources from the last 10 years.
Tip: As you read these different articles, think about the connection you want to make between history and your topic. Write down examples from the sources (with page numbers) so you can cite them later in your project. This will help you keep more organized.
