HIST101 APU Wk 3 Freedom Is a Fundamental Right for Americans Response – Description
Fellow patriot, James Chalmers has expressed an extremely partisan viewpoint of American life. As one of the main beneficiaries of an atrocious act by the Britons, I believe it would not be justified to strip freedom away from Americans living within their own nation and turn them into slaves within it.
Chalmers’ claim that British law is the best in the world defies logic; it couldn’t guarantee people basic rights. All men should be treated equally before the law; I believe strongly in this principle and stand for equal treatment before the law – something I am incredibly upset by.
My hard work as a retailer would end up benefiting someone who believes they have more rights than others, supporting Paine’s sentiments fully. Can you imagine living in a country without freedom or paying taxes to an oppressive government that you play no part in electing? or paying taxes directly into their pockets.
What role do you have in government? No representation and no voice which leaves any ordinary man vulnerable to oppression with no recourse but to fight back and do battle for what he believes in.
Let not forget the topic at hand the Revolution. What would we have done without the Revolution, or at least an alternate path forward? Our fight must be to free ourselves from British imperialist rule; there can be no greater motivation than that.
Paine’s “Plain Truth”, however, served to remind all of us that we were all simply men just like them, yet the outcome speaks for itself. America has achieved freedom for its entire population, so that future generations may enjoy and live as free citizen and countrymen.
