GCC week 8 disc reply to Christina M – Description
Evidence-based practice and research are both essential components of nursing practice however they differ in their focus and purpose. Evidence-based practice involves the integration of the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences in order to make informed decisions about patient care. When looking at research it involves conducting systematic investigations to generate new knowledge and expand the evidence base. Evidence based practice focus is to improve patient outcomes by integrating the best available evidence aiming to provide high quality individualized based care on current evidence. Research focus is to generate new knowledge, investigate phenomena, and contribute to existing evidence. Aiming their goal to expand knowledge and understanding within the field of nursing. With research the purpose is to investigate specific questions, test hypothesis, and advance knowledge (Abu-Baker et al., 2021). The aim to generate new evidence, identify gaps in existing knowledge, and contribute scientific data in that community. The methodology for evidence based practice involves critically appraising and synthesizing existing research evidence to guide clinical decision making. Identifying, evaluating, and applying relevant evidence to patients or populations (Abu-Baker et al., 2021). Research methodology is conducting and designing studies using rigorous scientific methodologies such as randomized control trials, qualitative or quantitative interviews, or observational studies (Abu-Baker et al., 2021). The various data collections and analysis techniques are used to answer each research questions involved. To identify research as an evidence-based project versus the general creation of knowledge look at several key factors including the research question itself, study design, participants and setting, outcome measures, and implication for practice. Overall, by implementing evidence-based practice nurses are able to bridge the gap between research and practice, ensuring that the evidence is effective. Being able to use effective evidence by making informed decisions and improving the quality of patient care. Abu-Baker, N.N., AbuAlrub, S., Obeidat, R.F. et al.
