FU Education & Teaching Question – Description
In this final project you will critically and creatively reflect on what you have learned. You will choose a way to represent your assumptions, questioning, and growth. This should show your development of your understanding of the social, historical, and philosophical foundations of a wide range of contemporary educational issues, and your new, careful consideration of at least one enduring educational questions (EQs). In particular you will reflect on your growth in terms of social justice in education. In this project you must review at least three different educational theorists that we have read.
I choose
Your reading and class discussions and activities will raise significant questions about the purposes and practices of schools. We will be talking throughout the term about the histories of the assumptions that underlie the schooling systems in the United States. Your job will be to create a visual metaphor to trace the roots/foundations of American schooling and to critically examine the implications of these assumptions. Your project will be a visual representation synthesizing the significant tensions, questions, and controversies in American education. In the past students have created projects using sandwich, state fair, garden, and watering hole metaphors.
