FU Coaching Readiness Evaluation Questions – Description
Purpose
To assess your ability to:
self-evaluate your readiness to coach
analyze your strengths and weaknesses as a coach
Action Items
Review Box 2.6 or 2.7, “Some Qualities of a Coach or Mentor” checklist found in Chapter 2: “How can I be an effective coach or mentor?” of Coaching and Mentoring at Work. For each of the 15 items, rate yourself on a scale of 1-5, where a one means “not very characteristic of me” and a five means “highly characteristic of me.”
Lists at least three additional items that you think should have been included on the checklist but were not.
Provides a rationale for your selection of each of these new factors.
Contains a graphic showing your self-rating on each of the items including the new ones.
Identifies the overall patterns or themes that you see in your checklist responses as a whole.
Discusses the patterns in terms of your overall readiness to become involved in workplace coaching. Note any connections that you see between the qualities of a good workplace coach and their motivation to do coaching.
Indicates any obstacles or concerns that you might have to your organization using workplace coaching and how they might be overcome.
Indicates what you learned about evaluating the readiness of coaches from completing this assignment.
