evaluation report should address the following areas:
1. Calorie Intake: Evaluate if you consume too many or too few calories and consider the implications for your weight and energy levels.
There are many formulas to estimate Calorie guidelines.
Use the 2 formulas below to calculate your estimated energy needs (show work) & Compare the results of each formula with the Energy needs provided by your DRI report.
How did the estimated Calories compare to your 2 calculations?
Formula 1: Calculate your estimated energy needs using the Alternate BEE
 Males: wt. kg x 1 Cal/kg x 24 hours x activity factor
 Women: wt. kg x 0.9 Cal/kg x 24 hours x activity factor
Activity factors: sedentary – multiply by 1.2, light – multiply by 1.3, active – multiply
by 1.5
Formula 2: Calculate your estimated energy needs using 25-30 Calories per kilogram
use current weight( Kg) & show work.
2. Macro-Nutrients:
Examine if you are experiencing any deficiencies or excesses in macronutrients. What
foods could you add or remove to correct this disparity?
3. Micro-Nutrients:
Assess whether there are any deficiencies or excesses in micronutrients. What foods could you add or remove to correct this disparity?
4. Severity of Concerns:
If concerns were identified in the above sections (regarding deficiency/excess in Calories/macro/micronutrients: Describe the severity of the problems identified in terms of their impact on your health. Determine if these concerns are mild and easily correctable or if they pose more serious health risks.
5. BMI and Risk Category:
What is your BMI (Body Mass Index)?
Does your BMI fall within a risk category?
Explain the risk factors associated with your BMI if any.
Discuss your risk factors and what strategies you can plan for improvement.
If your BMI is in the normal range, how can you improve your diet overall?
6. Activity:
What is your activity level? Evaluate if your activity level is within the desired range.
Consider the implications for your weight and energy levels.
What activities could you add or remove to correct any disparities? Plan a weekly exercise/activity routine to meet your desirable activity level.
7. Scenario: Diabetic Diet:
If you were told that you needed to follow diabetic diet guidelines, what are 3 nutrition-related changes that you would make for glycemic control?
Scenario: Heart Healthy Diet:
What is the recommended DASH diet sodium restriction?
What was your intake of sodium?
Calculate the percentage of your sodium intake compared to the DASH guideline (your sodium intake divided by DASH recommendation multiplied by 100).
What does the percentage say about your sodium intake?
If you were told that you had cardiovascular disease & hypertension, what changes would you make to adhere to Heart-healthy guidelines?
Scenario: Vegan Diet:
