Read Chapter 2: Introduction to Assessment and Ethical Considerations in your textbook (Guerriero, Houser, & McGinley, 2020)
Using support from the required readings, the Instructor Guidance, and at least two scholarly articles you find through
the UAGC Library. The LibraryULinks to an external site.webpage contains helpful tip sheets and tutorials to assist you in your library research. Write a three- to four-page paper analyzing the effects court cases related to educational assessment have had on legislation and on the field of special education. Two cases you will consider in your response from your textbook are Diana v. State Board of Education and Larry P v. Wilson Riles (Guerriero, Houser, & McGinley, 2020, p. 5).In your paper:
Generate an introductory paragraph describing the purpose of the paper.
Compose one paragraph for each of the two cases listed above that includes:
A short description of the case, including each party’s stance.
A summary of the final court ruling for the case.
A succinct explanation of how the historical legal rulings for each case impacts current educational assessment and evaluation procedures for students with disabilities. (You will have two paragraphs total in this section.)
Compare the two cases in one paragraph, noting their differences and similarities.
Evaluate the cumulative effects these cases have had on the legislation and policies in the field of education, in one paragraph.
Examine in one paragraph any diversity, equity, inclusion, safeguards, and ethical considerations related to the case law and legislation guiding assessment and evaluation of students with exceptionalities.
Summarize in a conclusion paragraph the main points of the paper, including your personal perspective on the impact of these cases.
