English Question – Description
Select one of the essays you have written in the previous modules: short story essay, poetry explication essay, or the summary essay. You will be doing some significant editing and may even rewrite most of it, but it will give you a starting place for your research and the new essay.
Reread your essay and look for information you can research. For example, you might decide to work with the short story essay. You might decide to look up critical interpretation in the Literature Research Guide or you might decide to look up the psychology of following traditions in one of the other research guides focused more on psychology and sociology studies. If you are interested in the revising the summary essay, you might consider researching the civil rights movement. Maybe your starting place will be to ask yourself a question you wish to explore, such as did the civil rights movement have a lasting impact on race relations in America, or are we still struggling with the same issues? You might also decide to focus in on an issue of importance and discuss how King handled it in his writing and what current research says about the topic today.
In addition, you need to bring in factual information from research to support your discussion. You will need to bring in at least one article from the college databases for this purpose. There is information in the module on how to access the databases and find an article. I will be scheduling at least one Teams meeting to assist you in this process.
An outline template will be provided to help with structure and to build unity and coherency throughout the essay. Your essay needs to be a minimum of 6 paragraphs (5-6 pages) following all details of MLA format and documentation.
