2. Composition As A Write of Passage” by Nathalie Singh-Corcoran.
3.Weaving Personal Experience into Academic Writings” by Marjorie Stewart
Follow the instructions, please. Reading Response Essay
For this first reading response, I would like for you to consider arguments made by Allen and Singh-Corcoran. After reading these texts, please consider how you, personally, approach college writing in this and in other classes. Then, writing from a personal perspective (read the Stewart article for some insight), please respond to a mixture of questions one and two at the conclusion of Allen’s article. These questions are:
What are you most anxious about, when writing? For example, do you worry most about grammar and mechanics? About organization? About the deadline? About page length? Why?
No doubt most students are at least peripherally, if not entirely, concerned with what grade they get on a paper. Given that pressure and/or in addition to that pressure, what are you most anxious about, when sharing your writing with others—e.g. classmates and/or the teacher? For example, do you worry most about your audience thinking your ideas are stupid? About readers misunderstanding your argument? About your peers/ teacher judging you according to how well you write?
Both of these questions ask you to consider your personal anxieties about writing. Please think about how you would respond to both questions, then write with your answers in mind. You are welcome to reference either article in your response, but please remember to provide appropriate credit. Although you are technically answering two questions, you should do everything possible to create one complete narrative. Do not create a subheading in your work as a means to transition from one to the next. Instead, consider how to build ideas with the questions as your inspiration.
