TOPIC: Higher turnover rates among African American male educators due to the underrepresentation of African American male administrators in K–12 leadership
OVERVIEW
Outlining your work is critical to effective planning for and writing your literature review. At times, it is tempting to skip this step in the writing process; however, this is an essential element that should not be missed. The purpose of this assignment is to help you develop and logically organize the Theoretical Framework and Related Literature sections of your literature review.
INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you will develop a complete outline that identifies the APA headings of your literature review and includes at least 10 empirical, scholarly sources published within the past five years. The only complete sentences and paragraphs that should be included in the outline fall under the Overview and Summary headings. The remainder of the outline should only contain current APA headings and in-text citations according to the expectations listed below.
The outline must begin with a title page and include the following Level 1 APA headings: Overview, Theoretical Framework, Related Literature, Summary, and References.
Include your updated Overview paragraph (based on previous instructor feedback).
Identify the updated theory (or theories) by including Level 2 APA headings with the name(s) of the theory (or theories) in the Theoretical Framework section. These updates must be based on previous instructor feedback as well. Include in-text citations identifying the primary theorists and other contributing sources you will include in your discussion of each theory.
Create various Level 2 and 3 current APA headings throughout the Related Literature section that clearly identify the main themes and subthemes you have discovered in the literature/research surrounding your topic. Include in-text citations under each heading that name the various sources you will later incorporate into your paragraphs as you synthesize the source material related to each theme/subtheme.
Develop a draft of the Summary section that concisely summarizes the content of the Theoretical Framework and Related Literature sections and briefly identifies the gap in the literature.
The outline should be 2-3 pages in length, not including the required title and reference pages.
