The ISIS version of Islam is extreme and deviates from the true principles of the religion. Most Muslims do not endorse the teachings and behavior of ISIS. The interpretation of Islam by ISIS is strict and literal, which contradicts centuries of Islamic scholarship and consensus. They believe in establishing a global caliphate governed by their extremist interpretation of Sharia law. They consider their actions a defensive form of jihad, asserting that they are fighting against those they perceive as enemies of Islam. One of their beliefs is the concept of takfir, which they use to declare Muslims who disagree with their interpretation as apostates deserving of death. Some people use their belief systems to support violent actions towards other Muslims and non-Muslims that they see as enemies.
ISIS also promotes a strict and uncompromising view of social and moral norms, seeking to impose their version of Islamic law in all aspects of life. They enforce harsh punishments, including public executions, amputations, and enslavement, claiming that such measures are necessary to establish a pure Islamic society.
