Go to the CDC’s Food Safety. (https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/diseases/) website and choose one food-borne illness and search the web to see if there has been a recent outbreak. Then post a summary of symptoms caused by your food-borne illness and a link to the source you found reporting a recent outbreak. ONLY ONE Food Borne Illness Per Student. First come, first served – but there are a lot to choose from. Review other students’ entries. All entries are fair game for exam material.
On a personal note, this topic is all too real for me! I got Salmonella poisoning while in Bali one the summer and was not a happy camper, to say the least! I was so careful while in SE Asia for the weeks leading up to that one fateful meal. Have you ever been impacted by food-borne pathogens? Include your stories and maybe choose the pathogen that you suspect made you sick for an interesting angle to the assignment.
