CVC Pathophysiology Discussion – Description
In this week’s episode, the patient, Samantha, mentioned a history of a presenting illness which was
knee surgery 3 days prior. Since her blood flow was slowing down and stopped in the right posterior
tibial vein while normal blood flow of the right common and iliac veins, caused her lower leg to produce
blood clots. “Venous thrombosis tends to occur in areas with decreased or mechanically altered blood
flow such as the pockets adjacent to valves in the deep veins of the leg” (Stone, et al. 2017)
