CCSD Relationship Between Birds Songs & the Habitat Structure Paper – Description
1. For your Participants subsection: Explain why you chose the population and sampling method. What other options might you have taken? Why is your approach best? What difficulties do you foresee if you had to actually obtain the sample?
2. For your dependent variables, how would you ensure construct validity (reliability, validity, …)?
3. Do an ethical analysis of your proposal. Apply Belmont principles. What aspect do you imagine the IRB would be concerned with. What kind of approval (full review, expedited, exempt) would you need for IRB?
Method
Design
This section is optional. Include it if your proposed study is complicated or if your reader would benefit from having an overview.
Participants
Indicate what population is being sampled and how they would be sampled. E.g., don’t say “a random sample of adults over the age of 65.” Instead indicate how you would obtain the sample, how they are recruited. Indicate what relevant demographic information would be recorded. Indicate what compensation Ps would receive.
Materials or Apparatus
If you are using an established survey or test, cite it here and give a description of it. If you are needing to create your own survey, describe it and include a couple of questions (you’re also encouraged to create a longer list of items which would go in an appendix). Any non-routine equipment should be specified.
Procedure
This should be step-by-step description of how the experiment/study will be conducted. If in doubt, err on the side of too much detail.
